The inflatable pool sofa: the ultimate in relaxation, on the water or on the patio.

Lounging on the water, a drink within reach, or creating a real lounge area by the pool: the inflatable pool sofa and couch transforms every swimming moment into a relaxing break. Floating armchair, corner sofa, daybed, or patio sofa: there's a model for every desire. This complete guide helps you choose, inflate, maintain, and set up your inflatable relaxation spot.

1. What is an inflatable pool sofa / couch?

The inflatable pool sofa is air-filled seating furniture designed for relaxation by the water. Some models float in the pool for sunbathing on the water; others are set up on the patio or lawn like real outdoor lounge furniture. Comfortable, lightweight, and easy to store, it offers an economical and mobile alternative to classic garden furniture.

It pairs wonderfully with our other aquatic essentials: the inflatable pool bar, the inflatable spa, and the floating platform. Find the models in the inflatable pool sofa & couch collection.

2. Types of inflatable sofas

Four styles for four ways to relax.

The floating armchair allows you to lounge directly in the water; the corner sofa accommodates several people; the daybed invites you to nap; the patio sofa recreates a complete lounge area in minutes.

3. How to choose your pool sofa

Criterion To check
Usage Floating (in water) or terrestrial (patio)
Number of seats 1-seater armchair to multi-seater sofa
Comfort Backrest, armrests, wide seat
Options Cup holder, footrest, cushions
Materials Thick PVC, UV-resistant, quick valves
Tip: for floating use, check stability and capacity; for patio use, prefer a firm seat and thick, sun-resistant PVC.

4. Inflation and use

The sofa inflates in minutes with an electric pump (quick valves make the operation easier). Respect the recommended pressure: neither too soft nor overinflated, especially in direct sunlight where air expands. For floating use, do not exceed the indicated capacity and remain vigilant with children—a floating sofa is not a safety device.

5. Layout ideas

  • The lounge area: a corner sofa + an inflatable coffee table for a summer lounge.
  • The pool bar: combine the sofa with a pool bar (see our inflatable bar guide).
  • The wellness area: a daybed near an inflatable spa (see our spa guide).
  • Floating relaxation: floating armchairs for sunbathing on the water.

6. Maintenance and storage

After use, wipe or rinse the sofa, check the valves and seams, then allow to dry completely before deflating and folding—humidity promotes mold. Store away from direct sunlight and frost. For the patio model, a cover or shaded storage extends the life of colors and PVC.

FAQ: your questions about the inflatable pool sofa

Can a pool sofa stay in the water?

Floating models are designed for this: they float and accommodate one or more people on the water. However, avoid leaving them permanently exposed to sun and chlorine; regular rinsing and shaded storage extend their lifespan. Patio models, on the other hand, are not designed to float.

How long does it take to inflate?

A few minutes are enough with an electric pump, especially if the sofa has quick valves. Manual inflation is still possible but takes longer. Respect the recommended pressure and deflate slightly in hot weather, as air expands in the sun and can excessively strain the seams.

Is it resistant to sun and chlorine?

Thick, UV-treated PVC resists normal summer use well. However, intense sun and chlorine remain aggressive over time: rinse after use, avoid permanent exposure, and store in the shade. These simple actions prevent premature fading and weakening of the material.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes, for relaxation, but a floating sofa is not a safety device: children's swimming must be constantly supervised, and non-swimmers equipped with appropriate flotation aids. On the patio, just make sure they don't jump on it, which could damage the seams.

How to store it?

Deflate after complete drying, fold without forcing the seams, and store in a dry bag, away from sun and rodents. The small footprint once deflated is one of the great advantages of inflatable furniture compared to rigid garden furniture.

Can it be repaired if it leaks?

Yes: most leaks can be easily sealed with a repair kit (patches and glue) often provided or available separately. Locate the leak, clean and dry the area, apply the patch, and let it dry thoroughly before re-inflating. Careful maintenance prevents most leaks.
